BRADES – “Boost your power. Get vaccinated” is the theme for the 2015 Vaccination Week in the Americas, which Montserrat is a part of.
VWA began on Sunday, April 26, 2015 with a service at the Anglican Church says Nurse Violet Brown, Community Nursing Managers for the Ministry of Health & Social Services.
On Monday, their will be quizzes and radio spots on ZJB Radio Montserrat (www.zjb.gov.ms).
Tuesday the 28th is Open Day at all clinics where residents are invited to come and check their immunization, get questions answered, and check their blood pressure and blood sugar.
There will be a mini health fair on Wednesday at the St. John’s Health Centre from 10 am – 2 pm. The public can come to receive blood pressure and blood sugar checks, Pap smear screening, breast examinations, HIV testing, immunization booster doses and Hepatitis B shots.
Focus is being placed on university students, high risk workers, green card applicants, and those who need an MMR booster.
Also available by appointment will be relaxation exercise sessions conducted by the Mental Health Unit.
Friday is Community Outreach Day with focus on the vulnerable, defaulters, construction workers, and farmers.
