Petition Launched to Appeal to UWI to Revoke Honorary Doctorate from Local Attorney

A petition was launched today, September 21, 2015 to revoke the planned honoring of local attorney David S. Brandt with a Doctor of Law degree from the University of the West Indies.

Lawyer Brandt was recommended for the honor by the UWI Open Campus on Montserrat and is scheduled to receive it during the graduation scheduled for October 10, 2015 on Antigua.

The petition can be found here and references the recent developments where Brandt, who was a former chief minister for the island, was charged with sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 16.

In a letter addressed to the head of UWI Sir Hilary Beckles, one question is asked: Should lawyer David S. Brandt be honoured with an Honorary Doctorate from UWI?
