St Augustine School Celebrating 140 Years

LOOKOUT – St. Augustine Roman Catholic School kicked off a year-long celebration for its 140th year in education with a mass on Sunday October 11, 2015 at the St. Patrick’s church in Lookout.
Each semester students and teachers worship with the parishioners and on Sunday special recognition was given to schools achievement.
Currently the school provides kindergarten and primary education to 151 students. While it receives a small government subsidy it depends on tuition and contributions to operate. Along with the daily curriculum, students are also able to take afternoon classes in netball, athletics, Chinese Mandarin and steelpan.
The Honourable Premier Donaldson Romeo and Hon. Minister of Education Delmaude Ryan attended the service along with Director of Education Glenn Francis.
Throughout the year the school will be hosting events to celebrate the 140 years and encourage past students to support with donations and volunteering their time.
