National Choir CD Launched

It has been two years in the making but Ash in The Breeze: I Hope You Will Remember is here.

3-7-17-cdsThe full-length CD was launched on Tuesday evening at Aqua Montserrat in Little Bay. Members of all three divisions of the Montserrat National Choir which recorded the project were in attendance to celebrate.

Keturah Daley of the Junior Choir said it had been an exciting experience to go into a recording studio to sing the songs.

Nia Golden who was in the middle division of the choir at the time of the recording said as an aspiring professional performer it was an opportunity to learn about the different aspects of putting a project together.

Producer Peter Filleul said it was a real pleasure to bring the project to fruition.

The project was initiated by the former Sir George Martin Fellow Cris van Beuren. The vocals were done on island at various locations including the Brades Primary School, the Montserrat Cultural Centre and Island Music Studios. Filleul completed the mixing and mastering in the UK.

Local radio personality Basil Chambers said it is a pleasure for him to play the tracks during his morning show. He congratulated the choirs and all of the people involved in bringing the project to life on behalf of ZJB Radio Montserrat.

The CD features music originally recorded at Air Studios in the 80s. Tracks include Every Step You Take by The Police and I’m Still Standing by Elton John. Cover design was done by Abi Kamalei and features the artwork of local artist Shan Murrell.

The cost is EC$45 and available at The Gallery in Salem, Johnnie’s Mecca Fashion and the Department of Youth Affairs. Copies are on sale at the Montserrat UK office and from former Governor Frank Savage. Efforts are being made to have the CD available online shortly.
