Montserrat Festival 2017 Officially Opens Tonight, Calypso Semi-Finals Follow

Montserrat’s longest running festival officially opens tonight!

If you arrive for the 6PM opening you only pay $10 to enter and can stay for the calypso semi-finals slated to begin at 8PM. If you come after the opening then entry for calypso is $20.

The brief opening is expected to give highlights of the many events slated on the calendar. Be sure to bring the children so they can enjoy the fireworks display which marks the end of the opening ceremony.

Other upcoming events include Carol Singing on Christmas Night, Soca Monarch on December 26, Night of Bands on December 28, Regional Female Calypso on the 29th and Calypso Finals the following night. Festival Day will be on New Year’s Day and Parade Day on January 2.

The Semi-finals of the calypso competition will see 15 men and women vying for the final 10 spots. They will be singing a different song than the eliminations backed up by Black Rhythms.
