The Ministry of Health and Social Services is invitingÂ the public to a consultation on the proposals for the development of healthÂ services on island.
The consultation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Brades Arts andÂ Education Centre, starting at 5:00PM. During the meeting, a team from the Ministry ofÂ Health will present a report on the â€˜Functional Review and Health Financing Studyâ€™ whichÂ was completed earlier this year.
The Ministry of Health is encouraging persons to attend and to provide feedback which willÂ be taken into consideration when finalising plans for the health services. PermanentÂ Secretary(Ag) in the Ministry of Health, Dorothea Hazel said, â€œThe discussion will focus onÂ the options being proposed for the advancement of Health ServicesÂ on Montserrat; theÂ proposed services to be offered at the new Hospital; the number of hospital beds beingÂ proposed, and the proposals for financing of servicesâ€. She further explained that fiveÂ options for services will be presented along with two options for financing.
The Ministry of Health official noted that the public feedback is essential for inclusiveness inÂ the selection of the best options for Montserrat.
Following the consultation, the Ministry will make a submission regarding the optionsÂ presented, and Cabinet will be invited to make a final decision. The final decision will beÂ factored into the development of the Business Case for the new Hospital along with aÂ strategy for the advancement of the health services.
To ensure persons are able to attend the consultation, the Ministry has organisedÂ transportation for those who need it. Two buses will be available to pick up persons alongÂ the route, starting at 4:30PM Peter Whiteâ€™s bus will transport persons from Look Out enÂ route to Brades while Elvis Daleyâ€™s bus will cover the Salem to Brades areas.
