2018 St. Patrick’s Festival Calendar for Montserrat Released
A calendar has been released for the 2018 installment of the St Patrick’s Day Festival scheduled to run from March 9 to 19.
The opening ceremony will be held at Heritage Village in Salem at 8PM on Day 1.
2018 also marks the 250th anniversary of the uprising on the Feast of St. Patrick’s in 1768 for which several slaves were killed as penalty for attempting to overthrow the slave masters, and as a warning to others. The Silk Cotton Theatre Company in partnership with the Montserrat Arts Council is to present a drama to mark this event. The production is scheduled to run for two days on March 13 and 14th at the Cultural Centre.
The Montserrat National Trust will be hosting and exhibition at the National Museum in Little Bay for the length of the festival and it will be open daily from 9AM until 4PM.
The calendar is a mix of events, including the popular MUT Jr Calypso Show, the St. Patrick’s Cultural Pageant, Freedom Run & Walk, live concerts and fetes. Be sure to get you madras outfits for the national service on Sunday, March 11 and for the Heritage Feast on March 17.
