Public Accounts Committee Launches Inquiry into Outsourcing Cleaning Contracts

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has launched an inquiry into the outsourcing of public service cleaning services by the Government of Montserrat.

According to a release from the Office of the Legislative Assembly, the inquiry was launched on  Wednesday, April 11.
Speaking at the launch of the inquiry, Committee Chairman, Honourable Joseph Farrell MLA stated, “today marks a significant milestone in the scrutiny of public expenditure by the Montserrat Legislative Assembly. This is the first public inquiry by the PAC, and it is the intention of this Committee to conduct further public inquiries in the future as the need arises.
“The Committee wishes to see ‘open and transparent’ Government which is accountable to the legislature and to the people of Montserrat. For that reason, evidence sessions for this Inquiry will be open to the public and a seated public gallery will be available for members of the public to attend the meeting.”
He added, “The purpose of this Inquiry is to identify weaknesses in the outsourcing system as it relates to cleaning services and to make recommendations as to how problems can be rectified.”
A public evidence session has been arranged for Wednesday 18 April 2018 at 10.00am in the Credit Union Hall.
