2019 St. Patrick’s Festival Events Starring Montserrat’s Children

One of the best things about the 2019 St. Patrick’s Festival is the different types of events on the calendar no matter your interest. We wanted to highlight four events which will star Montserrat’s talented children and which you don’t want to have to hear about.
A Montserratian Fairy Tale by the Montserrat National Youth Choir on Saturday, March 9 at the Cultural Centre. The current music fellow on island through the Montserrat Music Foundation, which was founded by Sir George Martin, is Brian Hosefros. He has been working with the students from the various schools to create a production featuring music and a dramatic presentation written and performed by children. Showtime is promptly at 7PM and you want to be in your seats before then. Tickets are EC$20 for adults and EC$10 for children.

The 20th Junior Calypso Competition happens on Sunday, March 10 at the Cultural Centre at 7PM. Each calypsonian performs two songs. One focused on this year’s Anti-Bullying theme and the other of their choice.  Tickets cost EC$25 for adults and EC$15 for children 16 years and under.

We Rise is the theme for this year’s production from local dance group The Matrixx Dancers. Scheduled for Monday, March 11 at the Cultural Centre, it will featured appearances from the three sections of the popular dance group. Also scheduled to participate are Elite Dancers from Antigua and Anjolique Dancers from St. Kitts. Show time is 7PM. Tickets are EC$25 and children under 16 pay EC$10.

The Way it Use to Be will be two special performances featuring Small Beginnings. This group of young musicians play a variety of string and brass instruments under the direction of Herman “Cupid” Francis. The shows are slated for Saturday, March 16 (8PM) and Sunday, March 17 (5PM) at the Old Salem School from 8PM.

Tickets go fast for these events so get yours as soon as possible.
