Deebzlenuz’s affinity for reggae and hip and hop and his love for his birth country Montserrat comes through clearly in his latest CD Outta Mi Soul 2 and the Outta Mi Soul EP.
Born Dominic Lee, Deebzlenuz takes listeners from a meditative space to grooving on the 18-track production and the EP which is now available on iTunes.
While his early years were spent on Montserrat, moving to the United States as he entered double digits introduced him to hip hop, which comes through on many of the tracks he wrote and produced. His passion for reggae, which he says is influenced by Bob Marley, Gregory Isaac, Dennis Brown, Peter Tosh and Bounty Killer, fuels much of the album.
Having written and recorded over 400 songs since he first discovered he could write, Deebzlenuz’s maturity comes through in the intentionality of each song to not only entertain but inspire.
Lee is about to embark on a global tour to promote the album. Early sales of the CD will help to raise the funds he needs to cover some of his travel and will also continue to support the work of We Will Thru Sports. The programme provides high quality sports activities that serve at risk youth and promotes connection, unity, and empowerment for girls and boys.
“Our key thing is using sports as our platform for helping kids to stay safe and adopt healthier lifestyles,” he shared about We Will Thru Sports.
The Outta Mi Soul 2 opens with his interpretation of Psalm 23 – The Lord is my Shepherd. The music eases into Triumph featuring Tao Vizion, then a cry that We Need More Love. Deebz then offers tributes to his mother in Mama, followed by one to fathers with My Daddy, featuring Arianna.
Turn It Up – Bed of Roses Remix, Montserrat, Lost and Found and Two-Way Street.
Real Reggae Vibes – My Life, which feels like Lee’s anthem paying homage to island values in big city. Rolling Up celebrates his feelings about the “herb” expressing the medical and creative benefits of its use.
Songs were produced by Pedro Alemany for Skillz Kingz Entertainment. Recording by Skillz Kingz Entertainment, mixed by Chris Anger (Serafin El Revolucionario) of Sound Republic, and mastered by Alex Psaroudakis.
