The top two female calypsonians following the upcoming semi-final round will compete in the Regional Female Calypso Competition, says the Montserrat Arts Council (MAC).
Following last weekend’s elimination round, the MAC congratulated the 15 who were selected to advance to the semi finals slated for December 21st at 8PM, in Carnival City.
MAC, which organises the annual carnival and calypso shows said that the points earned by each calypsonian during the Eliminations will be added to the points earned in the Semi-Finals.
Only the top nine calypsonians with the highest combined points will advance to the Calypso Finals on December 29th to compete against the Reigning Calypso Monarch, Garnet “Sylk” Thompson.
As was done in recent years, two local women will represent Montserrat in the much-anticipated Queen of Queens Regional Female Calypso show on December 30th. The four women who have made it through to the second round of competition are Dr. Tiffannie “Daughter of the Soil” Skerritt-Fleming, Destiny Weekes, Maggie “Maggie D” Destouche, and Maxine “Princess Agita” Osborne.
MAC is encouraging “all calypsonians to continue their hard work and dedication as they prepare for the Semi-Finals. We look forward to another exciting night of calypso.”
