About Nia

Nia Golden is a Montserratian singer and filmmaker known for her expressive voice and compelling storytelling. A versatile vocalist since childhood, Nia has performed across genres, from jazz and gospel to soca and pop, on stages in Montserrat and the United Kingdom, including representing her island at CARIFESTA XIV in Trinidad and Tobago.

As a filmmaker, she is the writer and director of documentary and original screenplays Calypso, Love Nia, (2022) and Dear Riley (2025). She is currently developing One More River to Cross, a powerful docuseries exploring the personal and national impact of Montserrat’s volcanic crisis. Her creative work continues to amplify Caribbean voices through music and film.

We Need Photos & Videos

We’re gathering photos and videos from 1990 to 2000 that reflect life during those years.

They do not need to feature explosions or pyroclastic flows.

Life after Hurricane Hugo, photos at school, at home, in the shelter, on the beach? Tell us who is in the photo and the year it was taken.

Your  images or videos may be featured in our 10-part documentary series, One More River to Cross, which premieres in late 2025 on YouTube.

We also hope to tour the series in the UK and US, sharing Montserratian stories with a global audience.
