New Caribbean Tech Conference Coming May 27-28, 2015

BRIDGETOWN – The interconnection challenges and opportunities of the technology industry in the region will be the focus of a new conference coming May 27 – 28, 2015 to Barbados.

Caribbean Network Operators Group (CaribNOG) will be collaborating with the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU), the Internet Society (ISOC) and Packet Clearing House (PCH) to host the Caribbean Peering and Interconnection Forum (CarPIF).

This is the first-of-its kind event for the region to specifically address the Interconnection challenges and opportunities in the Caribbean. The unique forum will provide participants with regional as well as global insights on how the Caribbean can maximize the opportunities that can be derived for greater interconnection and peering between local, regional and international internet service providers.

Designed as a multi-stakeholder forum, CarPIF will facilitate in-depth discussion on a number of issues critical to ICT-based development. The event will see participation from high-level industry stakeholders, including: infrastructure providers, Service Providers, IXPs, governments and regulators.

 Some of the discussions on the agenda are: The Business Case for Local Content Development, Opportunities in the Mobile Revolution, and State of Play I: Caribbean Fibre & Broadband Infrastructure and International Trends.
