BRADES – Minister of Education, Health Delmaude Ryan has completed the first round of a planned month-long tour of local schools.

She began on Monday June 1, with a visit to the St. Augustine Roman Catholic Primary School where she attended the morning assembly. During the assembly students received their Star Award Certificates who excelled in the area of fairness, which was May’s character principle.

Min Ryan also visited the St. John’s Day Care on Thursday, June 4 where she toured the compound accompanied by Head Teacher Ms. Mildred French to assess the current condition of the Day Care building and its surroundings.
The minister assured the teachers that their concerns and needs, which included the lack of resources as well as enough fruits and vegetables to feed the children, would be addressed in the short-term.

The Education minister finished out the week at the private daycare Aunt Madge on Friday. The school has an enrollment of 40 children from five months to four years with a staff of five. An active group of parents helps provide additional support to the school.
