World Mental Health Day is celebrated in over 100 countries and this year’s theme aims to highlight the ways in which dignity can be provided in all areas of mental health care.
A release from the Ministry of Health and Social Services said they will be hosting a week of activities from October 4 to 10th.
The week of activities begin with a church service at the St Johns Anglican Church on Sunday October 4 followed by a lunch for the residents of Oriole Villas. Oriole Villas is the Government-owned assisted living apartments for mental health patients.
Churches are being encouraged to include the theme in their messages.
On Monday, there will be a radio address from the Honourable Minister of Health on ZJB.
On Tuesday at 9am the National Mental Health Policy and Plan will be launched at the Montserrat Cultural Centre.
A mini Health Fair is scheduled for Wednesday October 7.
The official day will be observed with a Walk for Mental Health from the Oriole Villas in St. Johns to the Brades Arts & Education Center from 6am. The public is invited to join the walk and support the Montserrat Nurses’ Association breakfast sale.
