The second Rainforest of Reading Festival was held last Friday, November 27, 2015 at the Montserrat Cultural Centre.
Students from grades three, four and five of all of the local primary schools participated in the all-day event.
In attendance were Her Excellency the Governor Elizabeth Carriere and Hon. Minister of Education Delmaude Ryan. Both shared their personal love of reading and commended the children for their diligence to read the required books and encouraged them to continue to use reading to fuel their imaginations.
For the past few months, students have been able to read 12 new books and complete their own Rainforest of Reading passport.
During Friday’s events the students dressed up as characters from the non-fiction and fiction books to march around the cultural centre.
They also spent the day with the rainforest team participating in various activities related to the books.
