It was another fantastic evening of fashion, great food and good company at the first Madrastique, a fashion competition organised by the Montserrat Arts Council (MAC).
The elegant affair took place on the grounds of the Montserrat National Trust in Salem on Tuesday, March 14, 2017.
There were two runways for the intimate crowd to enjoy up close looks at the fashion created with the national madras.
The featured designers for the evening were Sonnika Weekes, Catherine Rodriquez, Laurian Brand, Karissa Romeo, Jamiel Greenaway, Tandika Hughes and Kirk Brade.
Models showed off their creations in formal wear, resort wear, casual wear and fantasy costumes.
Sonnika Weekes won the female formal wear section and Catherine Rodriquez’ Freedom Fighter for the men.
Designer Laurian Brand won the children’s formal wear segment.
Bohemian Rendezvous Queen worn and designed by Catherine Rodriguez won the resort wear category. The designer also took the male section with 96 degrees worn by Ian Gerald.
Laurian took the child category, while Karissa Romeo’s casual wear outfit was judged the best. Catherine Rodriquez won for male casual wear.
Kirk Brade’s fantasy costume won the section.
Director of MAC Chadd Cumberbatch presented a small segment of fantasy costumes worn by his staff. The costumes are expected to be on the road this Friday in the St Patrick’s Festival parade.
