Maureen Estwick to Give 2019 St. Patrick’s Lecture

The Annual St. Patrick’s Lecture takes place in the Conference Room at the Cultural Centre in Little Bay tonight Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 7 pm.  This year’s presenter is Angela Estwick, Country Manager and Resident Representative of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank.

Towards Sustainable Development: Our History, Our Culture, Our Future, is her topic. Estwick is expected to use the presentation to share her personal perspectives on three interrelated forces and their relevance in Montserrat’s journey towards sustainable prosperity.  She will highlight the symbiotic relationship between our history, culture and future, and delve into the attributing and emerging synergies and potential outcomes of this interaction, from a development perspective.

Estwick previously served as Director, Development Planning and Policy within the Office of the Premier/Ministry of Finance and Economic Management.  She has also served as Teacher, Statistician, Economist, Cabinet Secretary (Ag) and Permanent Secretary (Ag) Office of the Premier.  Miss Estwick is a Chevening scholar and a graduate of the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill), City University and the University of Nottingham in the UK. Her academic focus encompassed the disciplines of Economics, Social Research and Statistics and culminated in a distinction in Information Technology.  She has professional training in Strategic Policy Planning, Migration Management, Demography and Economic Development. She has also served as local course tutor for Economics and Marketing in the University West Indies Distance Education Programme and the ECCB Savings and Investment Course.  She has an affinity for foreign languages, being fluent in both French and Spanish.

The annual St. Patrick’s Lecture is coordinated by the UWI Open Campus.
