Great Evening of Laughter and Music for Cepeke

Emerald Community Singers

For more than five hours on Saturday night, young and old talent came together to celebrate the music of Cecil “Cepeke” Lake MBE and to help raise funds for his medical bills.
Known popularly as Cepeke or Wally, Lake has been in hospital since early January after being diagnosed with Guillian-Barre Syndrome an auto-immune disease. The cost of his medical care at the Mount Saint John Hospital on Antigua has skyrocketed and family and friends are rallying to raise 50,000 dollars to defray the expenses.
Radio personality Basil Chambers guided the evening forward.

Backed by Cepeke’s Black Rhythm band, the large crowd was treate to old favourites like Party Time from Al G, David “Trixi” Dubbery sang True Veterans and Tabu Duberry remade his popular Montserrat I’ll Never Forget you in honour of Cepeke. There were also performances from Ice Man, Shorty, Kulcha Don, One Note with Dig a Tunnel, Randy Greenaway, King Nattie, and the reigning calypso monarch Rabo.
David Lake, Cepeke’s brother was on hand to receive a $500 donation from Rabo. He also thanked the audience and the people of Montserrat for embracing his brother and giving.
