WOODLANDS BEACH – Andrew Myers and Emmy Aston founders of the Montserrat Reef Project were among 12 people acknowledged by Carib Journal as helping to make the Caribbean a Greener Place.
The list published on April 20, 2015 speaks to Myers and Aston’s work to build a new marine habitat in the waters off the coast, in partnership with the Reef Ball Foundation. The project began in 2010 and with the help of volunteers, 150 reef balls were built and immersed off of Woodlands Beach. Reef balls are artificial reefs that help protect the island’s marine life.
The founders are currently in the Philippines helping villagers create their own reef balls to preserve their marine habitats.
