Tonight a new play from the creative mind of Chadd Cumberbatch premieres at the Montserrat Cultural Centre.
Every Wowlah House is a children’s theatrical production about the experiences of Montserratian people from various walks of life at the time when the Soufriere Hills Volcano suddenly began to erupt, and in the crisis years that followed.
“Every wowlah house come from an old montseratian saying ‘Ebry wowlah house gat e own badness’,” explained the playwright. “Meaning every place or individual has its own problems. Wowlah house is the old houses with shingle finish and thatch roof that we used to live in.”
Produced by Plenty Plenty Productions and the Montserrat Volcano Observatory to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the eruption this year, showtime is 8PM. Tickets are on sale at Ashoks, the MVO and the Montserrat Arts Council office in Little Bay.
