The Seventh-day Adventist Community on Montserrat recently welcomed Pastor Sherwin White and his lovely wife Sis Donna Ible White to take up Pastoral ministry on island. Pastor Sherwin Ashton Eric White was welcomed into the preaching fraternity on Montserrat on Sabbath, Saturday September 26th. He replaces Pastor Carl Hastings who left island earlier for assignment in St. Kitts.
Born in the country of Guyana, Pastor White grew up in a Christian home where at a tender age he surrendered his life to Christ and accepted Him as his Lord and personal Savior. He is a graduate of Caribbean Union College (now University of the Southern Caribbean) class of 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology – Pastoral Emphasis. He holds a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry with emphasis in Church Administration and Leadership at the Griggs University. He commenced Pastoral Ministry with the Guyana Conference of Seventh-day Adventists where he served for several years before moving to St. Kitts. Pastor White is an ordained minister and licensed marriage officer.
Pastor White is joined in ministry by his wife, Mrs Donna Ible White of St. Kitts and together they have shared a wonderful team ministry. Sis White is a Computer Technician and Network Manager having worked at the Davis Memorial Seventh-day Adventist Hospital in Guyana. She also served as Children and Women Ministries Director of the Guyana Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and as the Manager of Adventist Book Center in St. Kitts.
According to the South Leeward Mission of Seventh-day Adventist, “Pastor White is convinced that the ultimate aim and purpose of ministry is to fulfil God’s desire to seek and save the lost. He believes that God has endowed His Church with various Spiritual Gifts for effective ministry and to address different needs, all with the ultimate aim of saving, discipling and nurturing souls for the kingdom. Based on the gifts that God has entrusted to him, He is persuaded that his place in the Body of Christ is in pastoral ministry. His areas of giftedness include Youth Mentoring and Nurturing as well as Church Growth and Evangelism. Pastor White has been faithfully utilizing these gifts for the glory of God. His efforts in this respect have been blessed with tremendous success.
Pastor White is a man of God and has had many successful years in the gospel ministry in his homeland Guyana and St. Kitts where he was stationed as a minister and worldwide on special invitation. He is an Evangelist, and has conducted more than twenty (20) evangelistic campaigns, in addition to revivals and youth seminars in the USA, Guyana, Suriname, Colombia, Turks and Caicos, Barbados, St. Maarten, St. Croix, St. Kitts, Montserrat, Trinidad and Tobago leading more than 2000 souls to become citizens of God’s Kingdom. His mantra in life is ‘There is Power in the Blood’ ”.
His first official assignment following his installation was to minister to the Financial Community and other visitors during the Sabbath Service at the New Carmel SDA Church at the beginning at Financial Information month.
Pastor White who says that he looks forward to ministry on Montserrat, has already begun to promote Montserrat to his family and friends worldwide, and they are already expressing a desire to visit this beautiful island.
