Montserratian athletics champ Julius Morris recently improved his personal best time at the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championship last week.
Morris competed in 60 and 200m sprints. He finished second in the 200M with 20.99s, a new personal best for indoor. In the 60 he placed third in his heat, with a time of 6.75s.
“I felt disappointed. I got an extremely bad start which set me back in the race, so I had to fight to make up ground but at the end of the day it’s a learning experience. I will do better next time,” he said of the 60m race.
After the 200m he told his coaches at the Montserrat Track Alliance “I had a fairly decent race. Came out okay and ran the race hard but fell short of the gold by one spot. It was an extremely competitive race and I’m happy with my results.”
Morris said there is a possibility of making the NCAA indoors nationals..”I’m currently ranked 19th in the country for the 200m but I will find out next week if I will gain a spot. I will be competing for Montserrat at the World Indoor Championships, where I will be running the 60m dash.”
Morris ‘ outdoor track personal best is 20:45s.
