Digicel Montserrat Increasing Mobile and Internet Rates February 1

Digicel Montserrat is increasing its rates for mobile and other services on February 1, 2017. These increases are still subject to approval from the telecoms authority MICA, which they are still awaiting.

In a release from the telecoms provider which began operations in 2014, the company said “due to the increased cost of business transactions, Digicel is making adjustments to rates for mobile, cable and broadband services. As such, customers will see an increase in rates for mobile calls, data services and selected cable and broadband plans to reflect the increased costs.”

The company noted that for the past two years they’ve “made significant and ongoing investment in our networks to improve our service to customers. Over the period Digicel has delivered the fastest networks, improved coverage, call quality and leading content to our customers. These increases are now necessary to offset the increased costs we continue to incur and importantly, to allow for further investment in order to continue to deliver the level of service Digicel’s customers both expect and deserve.

“Effective 1st February, 2017, the following increases will be applied:

  • 7% increase on prepaid mobile calls and data services
  • 10% increase on postpaid mobile calls and data services
  • 10% increase on cable and home internet services
