Director of the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), Dr. Godfrey Xuereb along with his support team are set to arrive on Montserrat on January 10th, for a two-day visit with health officials here.
According to a release from the Ministry of Health and Social Services, their Strategic Programme Initiatives of the ministry will be the primary focus of the high level team from PAHO.
Hon. Minister Delmaude Ryan and Senior Officials from the ministry will discuss and examine: the Strategic Initiatives agreed to with PAHO and the other UK Overseas Territories; the Ministry of Health’s Strategic Initiatives 2017 – 2019; the New Hospital development plans, Health’s human resources and the Health Information System.
The team will also facilitate a Community Based Workshop aimed at raising awareness and support for Zika control through reduction of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. This Workshop will take place at the Credit Union Hall in Brades on Tuesday starting at 5:00pm.
“This visit strengthens established ties with PAHO and WHO as well as garners regional support for major health plans on island. It will culminate with a press conference aimed at informing the public of major decisions coming out of these high level meetings,” the release read.
