The National Disaster Preparedness Response Advisory Committee (NDPRAC) is advising residents to continue to monitor the progress of Tropical Storm Beryl which is forecast to pass a safe distance to the South of the Leeward Islands.
The committee met again on Sunday at noon at the Disaster Management Coordination Agency (DMCA) to discuss the impending storm, which is expected to pass Sunday evening into early Monday morning.
According to forecasters, due to the continuing uncertainties associated with Tropical Storm Beryl, any possible motion towards the north could bring the system closer to the islands thus watches and warnings cannot be ruled out.
Possible rainfall total of up to half an inch is also possible with the passage of Beryl.
NDPRAC is also advising residents that business resume as normal on Montserrat on Monday July 9th, 2018 and all public servants are asked to report to work at the usual time.
All public and private schools will be opened on Monday July 9th, 2018 as normal.
Air and Seas Access in and out of Montserrat will resume on Monday July 9th, 2018 in the afternoon if safe to do so.
The message now is for residents to remain vigilant and to continue to monitor the path of Tropical Storm Beryl and not be complacent as tropical storms and hurricanes are fluid by nature and can change at a moment’s notice.
