Police Officers To Attend FBI and Indian Tech Courses

The Royal Montserrat Police Service announces that two of its officers have successful acquired acceptance to further their development at institutions overseas.
Inspector Maleka Newell was selected for the Indian Technical & Economic Cooperation Programme, under the Ministry of External Affairs, by the Government of India. She will participate in an 8 weeks Certificate Course in Leadership, Motivation & Change Management Strategies.
Sergeant Tyrone Fenton left Montserrat on 30 March 2019 to commence a three-month management capacity building and leadership training course at the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) training Academy, Quantico Virginia. The training commenced on 1 April 2019.
The training programmes are for officers with potential to take on leadership role in the future in their organization. This is also part of the RMPS implementation of its Succession Plan and Strategy to develop officers and management capacity for the long term sustainability of the RMPS and Fire and Rescue Service.
Sergeant Micah Hilton, Clyde Rogers of the Customs & Revenue Service and Police Constable Leon Edwards were three RMFS nominees who successfully completed training as recipients of the Indian Technical Corporation Scholarship.
Members of the Service who have graduated from the FBI academy in the past are Deputy Commissioner Charles Thompson, Superintendent of Prison Bennett Kirwan and Inspector Courtney Rodney. Sergeant Tyrone Fenton is the fourth successful nominee selected to attend the Academy form Montserrat in less than 10 years
The Office of the Commissioner is grateful to the Government of Montserrat, Indian Government and the United States Department of Justice for extending these two training opportunities to the Montserrat Police. This will enhance the delivery of Law enforcement services to the public.
