The GEM Sports Foundation has announced the recipients of its 2024 Scholarship and Mentorship Programme.
The foundation, established to support young student athletes said they received four applications—three male and one female—which marked a slight decrease from 2023.
“This year we are delighted to award scholarships worth XCD$1,200.00 each, along with personalized mentorship aimed at fostering the sports, career, and life goals of our successful applicants:
● Sherlyn McNichols, a 12-year-old student-athlete at Montserrat Secondary School, is passionate about athletics. As a committed member of the Track Alliance Club, she tirelessly pursues her goal of becoming the next Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.
● Adin Corbette, a 13-year-old student-athlete also at Montserrat Secondary School, is recognized for his versatility and athletic prowess. Known for his disciplined approach and competitive spirit, Adin aspires to represent Montserrat in regional and international competitions.”
“The Board extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported the Foundation’s mission and looks forward to your continued contributions. Special congratulations to this year’s recipients and their families. We are inspired by their potential and remain dedicated to nurturing and advancing the development of athletic talent,” their release stated.
