Local Access TV Channel being revamped

Brades – Local Access Channel Five, which is run by the Government Information Unit is presently being revamped, explained Director of Information & Communications (DIC) Nerissa Golden.

“We sincerely apologise to the general public who have been inquiring about the loss of local programming on the weekend. However, in an effort to improve the overall quality of the product and to streamline the content so our clients can be assured of a regular schedule of programming, we have temporarily halted the airing of any local shows,” Golden said.

The DIC has been charged with upgrading the media services of the government, including ZJB Radio Montserrat and the Government Information Unit, with the eventual merger of the two entities into a statutory body.

“Part of this process includes retraining all of our media personnel, upgrading our equipment and expanding our capacity across the board, to produce more locally-based shows to inform, educate and entertain. Within the coming weeks we will announce when the channel will be on and a schedule of programmes.”

A restricted website merging the content of both the radio and television will also be launched at the same time.
