Deputy Governor Sarita Francis receives OBE from HRH Princess Royal

BRADES, Montserrat – Deputy Governor Sarita Francis on Wednesday was awarded the Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her public service to the Government and people of Montserrat.
Mrs. Francis received the award in a ceremony hosted by Her Royal Highness Princess Royal, the second daughter of Queen Elizabeth II.
The deputy governor was selected earlier this year along with Mrs. Oeslyn Jemmotte, a retired head teacher to the Queen’s New Years Honours List. Jemmotte received her medal during the visit of HRH Philip in March, while the deputy governor opted to have the ceremony done at Buckingham Palace.
Mrs. Francis also received the award for her work with the Montserrat National Trust, where she once served as president.
“I was accompanied by three of my relatives and was very honoured to be awarded the OBE by Her Majesty the Queen especially in the year when she is celebrating the Jubilee,” Mrs. Francis said.
