Defence Force Captain and Former Teacher Receive Queen's Birthday Honours

SALEM – Montserrat will celebrate Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday today with the usual pomp and circumstance at the Salem Park. It coincides with the announced from Buckingham Palace that two Montserratians have received awards in Her Majesty The Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2015.

According to a statement from Government House, the awards are as follows:-

Mr Peter William Alfred White of Woodlands has been appointed as an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to Safety and Security in the Community of Montserrat. Mr White is a Captain in the Royal Montserrat Defence Force and is Director General of the Customs and Revenue Service for the Government of Montserrat.

Miss Kathleen Linora Greenaway of Montserrat but currently residing in the United Kingdom, has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for her services to education and for community service in Montserrat. Miss Greenaway, now retired, is a former Montserrat Secondary School teacher, principal and Director of Education in Montserrat.

Both awardees were nominated for their awards by members of the local community and have been personally congratulated by His Excellency the Governor, Mr Adrian Davis.
