As part of its annual celebration of Law Week, residents will be able to receive free legal advice from members of the local legal fraternity.
On Wednesday, the public is invited to seek out the lawyers who will be stationed on the top floor of the St. Patrick’s Cooperative Credit Union from 10:00 am -12:00 pm and 1:00- 3:00pm.
The Montserrat Bar Association opened Law Week 2016 with a church service at the Church of God of Prophecy on Sunday morning. The week runs until Sunday March 6th, 2016 and will include meetings with their legal counterparts from the OECS Bar Association.
According Cedricia Shiell, Crown Counsel in the Attorney General’s Chambers the week of activities include presentation of awards and prizes to primary school students who participated in their essay competition. The topic for the competition was “What does the Law Mean To Me?”
The OECS Bar Association meetings run from March 4 – 6 and will include a welcome reception and a tour. During the main session, the lawyers are expected to discuss issues that all member states have been encountering over the reporting period, Shiell told Discover Montserrat.
