Reigning Miss Montserrat Tabeanna Tuitt has launched a GoFundMe page to support her activities for this year.
Tuitt and her team have a goal of raising 4000 pounds so she can compete in two regional competitions during the summer months.
The current queen will not be attending the Miss Caribbean Culture pageant in Nevis as it was thought to have been of poor quality the past few years.
Tabeanna is scheduled to compete in the Miss Carival in St Vincent & the Grenadines on July 1, 2016. This will be the first year Montserrat will attend this event.
She will be hoping to continue Montserrat’s success at the Miss Jaycees International Pageant in Antigua on July 24th. The former Miss Montserrat Sharissa Ryan is the current holder of the Jaycees crown.
The Montserrat Arts Council has allocated $14,000 to facilitate participation in these pageants.
However, the Miss Montserrat team says although this is a generous amount, once expenses accumulate, particularly for training, travel and the cost of pageant outfits, more funds will be needed.
In order for Montserrat to compete at a continued high standard with quality representation extra funds are required.
The money raised will be used to cover the costs of travel, gowns, swimwear and registration fees and professional coaching among other needs.
