Joel, Jasmine and Jeremiah Gilford are the inspiration behind the name for the new cake and pastries shop which opened in Brades on Monday evening.
Triple Js Cakes and Pastries is owned by their parents George and Mahala Gilford who have been making a name for themselves on island and abroad as novelty cake specialists. Whatever the design the couple takes on the challenge to ensure every customer gets a cake which depicts exactly what they want and tastes great as well.
Now they have decided to expand to offering Montserrat a way to get great tasting goodies for special occasions or to cure a sweet tooth daily.
Operating from the Lyme complex in Brades, Triple Js will offer both sweet and savoury pastries.
The Gilfords say the opening of the retail outlet has been a dream of theirs for quite some time. Friends and family gathered to share in their achievement and to enjoy samples of some of the products which will be available to the public.
Minister of Trade Claude Hogan congratulated the couple and said this was an example of what Montserrat needs more of. The growth of small and micro businesses will have spill off effects in other sectors such as agriculture and tourism, he said.
Mahala Gilford, who is the primary baker said customers can count on a daily dose of popular items such as donuts and pineapple tarts. A variety of fruit smoothies have been added to the menu and small cakes will be able to purchase over the counter.
Novelty cakes however need at least one week lead time and a deposit to be completed.
