RFA Mounts Bay to Visit Montserrat Next Week

RFA Mounts Bay in Little Bay, Montserrat.

As part of this year’s hurricane season preparations of the UK Government, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessel Mounts Bay will pay a courtesy visit to Montserrat on Monday July 8 to Wednesday July 10, says a Government House release.
While on Montserrat the Commanding Officer, Captain Jeremy A. MacAnley, and senior officers will be making courtesy calls on H.E the Governor, the Hon. Premier and have familiarising meetings with key Disaster Management response and security officials.
Additionally, the ship’s company will conduct a series of training and exercises with the Royal Montserrat Police Service, Royal Montserrat Defence Force and Disaster Management Coordination Agency. RFA Mounts Bay’s deployed helicopter will be assisting Montserrat Utilities Limited and the Montserrat Volcano Observatory with access to remote locations not normally accessible other than by air.
The Royal Engineers detachment of HADR troops will also be working on community projects while on island.

Captain MacAnley took control of the Mounts Bay in February of this year. He has more than 30 years in maritime service.
