Last Wednesday, August 16, 2016 friends and family joined with finalists to celebrate the winners of the first Young Civil Service Awards.
The awards are an initiative of the Young Worker’s Committee, which is part of the Montserrat Civil Service Association to recognise the unsung heroes who work for the Government of Montserrat.
There were 61 Nominations, and 27 Finalists. Winners of each Category are:
Outstanding Customer Care Awards: O’Cathma Thornhill, Jervian Boatswain, Raston Fenton, Vonroy Allen
Leadership & Interpersonal Skills Award: Daniele James
Professional Etiquette Award: Stevika Rodney, Alverna Weekes
National Duty Award: Sherandy Fenton (RMPS), Seon Richards (RMFS)
Quilton Horatio Tuitt Award: Glenroy Foster
Most Improved Young Worker Award: Raston Fenton
Employee of the Year Award: Gerren Gerrald
On Thursday evening, Her Excellency the Governor Elizabeth Carriere hosted a reception at her residence for the awardees and organising committee.
She called the awards celebration of a very high caliber and commended the team who developed the initiative, noting that it highlighted the good work that many are doing within the service but who often go without recogition.
The Organizing Committee were: Michelle Cassell (Secretary of MCSA and Chair of the Young Workers’ Committee); Linda Dias (Vice Chair of the Young Workers’ Committee); Annette Cummings (Ass. Secretary of MCSA and member of the YW Committee); Siobhan Tuitt (member) and Johann Tuitt (member). The committee also acknowledged their mentor Nyota Mulcare who provided guidance.
