The Montserrat Arts Council will be hosting The Montserrat Memory Project from March 7 to 30, 2017.
The exhibit is a collection of images taken pre-volcano by photographer Gildo Spadoni.
According to the promotional material from the MAC “in the early 90s, to escape the hustle and bustle of New York City, photographer Gildo Spadoni visited Montserrat.
“As any tourist would do, he took pictures. These pictures have taken on a particular significance since the volcanic crisis. The loss of our most loved and iconic landmarks cannot be quantified. As is the loss through migration and otherwise, of some of our more memorable characters.
“Luckily for us Gildo not only captured his surrounding landscapes but he also captured us, in the moment, at our most glorious, youthful, hopeful selves. Through his photographs we will remember Moments, Places and Faces.”
Images include a young Basil Chambers and Chadd Cumberbatch as well as beautiful images of the former capital of Plymouth.
The Montserrat Memory Project will be on display at the Montserrat National Trust in Salem.
