Colin Fergus has been appointed to the post of Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports effective Monday March 12th, 2018.
According to a release from the Deputy Governor’s Office, Fergus brings to the post a wealth experience in the public sector having worked at the Treasury Department, the Department of Information Technology and E-Government Services (DITES), Public Service Reform Unit (PSRU), Office of the Premier and the Ministry of Finance and Economic Management.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and two Masters Degrees, the first in Management Information Technology and the other in Economics and Finance for Development.
He also possesses two post graduate certificates in Project Planning Appraisal and Management and in Finance.
Fergus has over 19 of experience in the public sector and is a Lieutenant in the Royal Montserrat Defence Force (RMDF) and the present Commanding Officer of the Montserrat Secondary School (MSS) Cadet Corp.
The new permanent secretary says he’s looking forward to the new challenge within the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports and to help smooth the path for the oncoming generation.
