The Governor’s Office announced Friday that Alan Morrison has joined their team on Montserrat as the new Policy Officer following a Foreign and Commonwealth Office global recruitment drive. He arrived on Montserrat on August 15 th and has been getting familiar with the island and his role.
On his appointment Mr. Morrison said: “I have been lucky to travel the world during my 30-year career in the FCO where, most recently, I was the Consul for Nigeria. However, the highlight so far was arriving in Montserrat; in the 1990’s I remember talking to a colleague who had been posted here and he told me what a wonderful place this was. From that time on, I have looked out for an opportunity to get here and although it took over 20 years, I finally made it! My experience so far has mostly been performing consular roles, including crisis preparedness and response, as well as some trade and political work too.”
Mr. Morrison’s role will focus on strengthening and enhancing co-ordination of policy areas within the Governor’s Office including environment, disaster management, security issues and project management of Conflict Stability and Security Fund (CSSF) funded projects in Montserrat.
