Tropical Depression Fourteen is centered as of 5 p.m. AST over the far eastern tropical Atlantic Ocean about 450 miles (720 km) west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. It’s moving toward the west-northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h), and a west or west-northwest motion is forecast during the next couple of days.
Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Some gradual strengthening is expected, and the depression is forecast to become a tropical storm over the weekend. It is not a threat to land.
