BLAKE’S – In an effort to encourage more women and girls to play football, the Montserrat Football Association will be hosting a Girls’ Grassroots Festival, on Saturday, May 23, 2015.
The festival is part of CONCACAF’s Women’s Football Day. Football clubs within the federation’s network are being encouraged to host the open day which takes place exactly two weeks before the opening match of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.
According to a release from the MFA, the Women’s Football Day also serves as an opportunity to encourage fans to get excited about the matches which will feature four CONCACAF teams: Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico and the United States.
Activities will kick off at 11am until 1pm and girls six to 12 years old are being invited to participate. More details will be provided closer to the event.
