OECS Heads of Government to assemble in Dominica Today

Montserrat’s Premier, Donaldson Romeo is expected to be among the leaders at the 62nd Meeting of the OECS Authority which begins in Dominica today.

The meeting will be held from November 18th -19th 2015 under the Chairmanship of Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada at the State House Conference Centre, Victoria Street, Roseau, Dominica.
Dominica was chosen specifically as host to further demonstrate the solidarity of OECS Heads of Government in facilitating that country’s recovery effort following the passage of tropical storm Erika in August 2015.
This would be the first OECS Authority meeting for two new OECS Heads of Government in the Honourable Victor Banks, of Anguilla and Dr.the Honourable Timothy Harris, of St Kitts & Nevis.
Matters pertaining to an update on applications by French Caribbean territories for membership of the OECS are also on the agenda for discussion by the OECS Heads of government.
The OECS Heads will further discuss matters on a proposed Strategy for Dominica’s Recovery, a proposal for OECS Future Disaster Responsiveness, Rights Contingent to Free Movement of People, the Integration of Martinique into the OECS and matters pertaining to the OECS Assembly.
The OECS Heads are also expected to visit affected locations of Tropical Storm Erika in Dominica and to engage with residents at a Town Hall Meeting in one of the communities.
