The music was energetic and the crowd was engaged at the 2nd Annual Tropical Productions Night of Mas & Revelry on Tuesday, December 29, 2015.
The evening was hosted by Basil Chambers, Iris Lake and Lorraine Lewis.
Seven costumes were entered in the competition to win $4500 in cash prizes.
Veteran mas maker Jewelline Roberts-Riley won the top prize with Dragon Fantasy.
Taking the second place position was Elizabeth Piper-Wade who debuted in the competition with her piece When the Sky Meets Earth. Third place was won by Makeda Madden for JamYouLou. Madden who is only 14-years-old had entered two pieces in the show designed to encourage the creation of big mas costumes.
The costumes in order of appearance were: 1. Kirk Brade – Splash 2. Makeda Madden – JamYouLou 3. Kirk Brade – Eternal Dragon 4. Makeda Madden – Festive Fury 5. Elizabeth Piper-Wade – When the Sky meets Earth 6. Jewelline Roberts – Dragon Fantasy 7. Shaquille Sam – In Flight
Following the costume segment, the crowd which grew significantly from the small opening enjoyed three hours of music from ICultural, Nyne and Kulcha Don with Madzart, Jadine the Soca Diva, Edwin Yearwood and Ricardo Drue. Also making an appearance were the Matrix Dancers. TJ the DJ from Antigua provided stellar musical sounds all night.
