MV Joyce has been cleared to transport cargo between Antigua and Montserrat after being detained by officials last week.
Christopher Balls, Chief Marine Surveyor wit the Antigua & Barbuda Marine Services and Merchant Shipping told ZJB News on Tuesday that the vessel was stopped because it did not have the required certification for trading within the Caribbean as a small commercial vessel.
He added that port side control officers also found a few safety deficiencies such as no life raft, and expired life jackets and flares The matters have been resolved and the vessel was able to leave Antigua on Wednesday.
MV Joyce is contracted by the Government of Montserrat to provide cargo services between the islands as a result of the cancellation of ferry services in April.
