The Governor’s Office has denied reports that local representative for DFID has been recalled.
Following an earlier story published by Discover Montserrat. The office stated the following:
“Her Excellency the Governor has seen press reporting and social media comments suggesting that Mr Martin Dawson, Head of the Dept for International Development (DFID) in Montserrat, has been withdrawn from the island with immediate effect. This is completely untrue. Mr Dawson, along with other colleagues from the DFID office in Montserrat, is in the UK for a long-planned and annual two day meeting organised by the Overseas Territories Dept of DFID at East Kilbride in Scotland. He left Montserrat on Friday 9 September and will be back at his desk on Monday 19 September.”
