ICT Week Quiz Winners Awarded

The Ministry of Communications, Works and Labour presented gifts to winners of the radio quizzes, which were held during Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Week 2017.
The ten winners awarded were: Kaymar Martin, Shary Barzey, Liana Green, Shanesha Weekes, Shawné Williams, Inez Thompson, Dekel Hamilton, Deidre Allen, Denelta Weekes and Easton Edwards.
The Ministry held a brief prize giving ceremony today to recognise the winners and to thank them for participating in the quiz competitions, which were conducted to raise awareness about the use and importance of ICT’s.
In his remarks to the winners, the Honourable Acting Minister of Communications, Works, and Labour, Gregory Willock highlighted the level of work that has gone into the development of the ICT strategy, and the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to ensure that all individuals throughout the community are aware of the importance of ICTs. He noted that the winners represented various age categories, which he said meant that “everyone is getting involved and are working together to develop Montserrat through information and communication technology.”
He further stated that there is a lot more work to be done on the infrastructure side of ICT development, which will also lead to greater public involvement. Mr. Willock said, “There will be greater need for you to be involved, not just to receive prizes but also to utilise ICT’s.”
The prizes presented to the winners included smart watches, Amazon fire tablets, Acer tablets, a Sony digital media player, Vertex Stereo headphones and $50 gift vouchers. These prizes were sponsored by private businesses, such as, MNI Networks, The Stationery Office (TSO), Infotech Systems and Services, Rovika Inc and InVision Ltd.
The ICT Week of Activities was held from November 19 to 24, under the theme, ‘Green, Connected and Thriving-Automation and Cyber Security.
