New Voices in the 2017 Female Regional Calypso Show

Roxxy from Anguilla

Chrystal Cummings Beckles-Holder of Barbados is back for a fourth shot as queen in Montserrat’s Female Regional Calypso Show scheduled for Friday, December 29 at Festival Village in Little Bay. However, she will have to contend with some familiar faces and newcomers to the competition for the title of Queen of Queens.

Roxanne “Roxxy” Webster of Anguilla is back. Silvina “Kandi” Malone collected enough points in the eliminations and semi-finals round to win the chance to represent Montserrat in the homegrown competition.

New this year to the female only calypso show are Samantha “Sammie C” Cummings-Tahir  of Antigua & Barbuda, Laura Lisa “Laura Lisa” Richardson of Grenada, St. Kitts & Nevis’ Kimara Martin aka Lady Diva, St. Vincent & the Grenadines’ Lornette Yoland Nedd aka Fya Empress and Karene Asche of Trinidad & Tobago.

“Our main objective is to bring female calypsonians of the region together to compete in an atmosphere of camaraderie, and showcase the calypso art form of the region,” said Kenneth “Rabo” Silcott, Head of Planning and Production for the Montserrat Arts Council.

The women will each perform two songs for a chance at the coveted title and EC$ 10,000 for the first place winner.

Showtime is 8PM and it will also be streamed via ZJB Radio Montserrat on your favourite audio app.
