Forty students from both the primary and secondary schools will be engaged in an activity packed three day workshop to introduce them to Robotics and Rasberry Pi. The sessions for the Primary Students will run from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, while the sessions for the Secondary students will be from 1:00 to 5:00 pm Monday 25th to

This workshop is organised by the Ministry of Communication, Works and Labour ahead of International Girls in ICT Day 2016 and is spearheaded by National ICT Council Coordinator Mrs. Cheverlyn Williams-Kirnon, Director of Strategic Management and Administration in the Ministry.

A brief opening ceremony at 8:50 am on Monday, 25th April preceded the workshop sessions and was also attended by teachers, ICT Technicians and the media.

For the first time since Girls in ICT Day was introduced in Montserrat, boys have been included in the sessions.

Ms. Cathy Ann Radix, Mr. Akash Pooransingh, technical experts from UWI St Augustine are the facilitators and will be supported by local experts in the field to include DITES and Lavabits.
The theme for this year’s International Girls in ICT Day 2016 is Innovation and Change and participants are expected to use the knowledge and skills gained in the interactive, hands on workshop sessions, to come up with projects to be displayed in their schools on International Girls in ICT Day. They are also expected to lead the wave to change in the country and to move the country from being consumers of IT software to being producers.
