New Governor Appointed for Montserrat

In coming Governor Andy Pearce

Andrew Pearce OBE has been appointed Governor of Montserrat in succession to Ms Elizabeth Carriere, who will be leaving the Diplomatic Service to take up a post in the private sector. Mr Pearce will take up his appointment during January 2018 and will be accompanied by his wife, Pornpun.
Mr Pearce joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office after a period engaged in scientific research. He has had overseas postings in Bangkok, Bucharest, Pretoria, Tel Aviv and, most recently, as Charge d Affaires (Acting Ambassador) in Vilnius, Lithuania. Home postings have involved work on FCO estate security matters, arms control and bilateral issues in southern
Europe, including Gibraltar. He has been involved in the UK Government response to several natural and man-made crises. He is a keen hiker in his spare time.
Ms Carriere has welcomed Mr Pearce’s appointment. She said, “I am delighted to learn of Mr Pearce’s appointment. I know that he and his wife will be welcomed to Montserrat with the same warmth that I have been. He brings with him a wealth of experience that I am sure will be of huge benefit to Montserrat. I am also sure that, with his love of the outdoors, he will quickly come to love Montserrat as much as I have. I wish him and his wife happiness and success here.”
