ANTIGUA – Women in Antigua & Barbuda will be joining in the worldwide celebration of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED) on November 19th.
Local businesswoman Sandra Baptist is the United Nation’s World Ambassador for Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Antigua and Barbuda. She explained that WED aims to empower women and inspire girls in business globally.
To celebrate this day, Ms Baptist will be hosting The !Ignite! Retreat: Fueling Women’s Entrepreneurship! on November 19 2015 at the Jolly Beach Resort & Spa from 9:30a.m to 4:00pm. There will be a female entrepreneurial panel of guest speakers including Ms. Shirlette Thomas, Owner of Java to Go and Media Strategist Ms. Nerissa Golden of Montserrat.
At this event, there will be an opportunity for growth-oriented women business owners and entrepreneurial women in Antigua and Barbuda to apply for the Women Innovators Network in the Caribbean (WINC) Acceleration Program, which is a World Bank/InfoDev Accredited Program (AP), designed to grow their businesses.
Baptist said hosting the WED retreat and launching the WINC Acceleration Program is part of her continued mission to support women entrepreneurs. Women connecting at the retreat and through the AP will have access to a global network of resources to help them to build successful businesses. As the Country’s Ambassador, Baptist’s goal will be to raise awareness on WED – its aims, activities and results.
